Purchasing Agent

Weaver Brands is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Purchasing Agent to support our operations by securing the right materials at the right time and cost. This role is responsible for purchasing raw materials and distributed goods, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring accuracy in documentation and inventory control. The Purchasing Agent serves as a key liaison between vendors and internal departments, helping to maintain efficient operations and cost-effective procurement practices.

The job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Determine appropriate order quantities using MRP recommendations and business needs.
  • Monitor demand and adjust purchase plans to expedite, reduce, or reschedule materials as needed.
  • Negotiate favorable pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Manage vendor relationships and monitor performance to ensure cost, quality, and service standards.
  • Verify product costs and prepare accurate receiving documentation for warehouse personnel.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and authorize invoices for payment.
  • Communicate product changes, pricing updates, vendor status, and delivery timelines to internal teams.
  • Collaborate with sales, customer service, shipping, receiving, and manufacturing departments to align operations.
  • Recommend process, system, and reporting improvements to maximize departmental efficiency.
  • Support company goals related to fill rate, cost reduction, and supplier performance.
  • Represent Weaver Brands through supplier visits and occasional domestic or international travel.

Our ideal applicant:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 1+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or a related field.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Proficiency with purchasing and inventory control software in a Windows environment.
  • Key strengths include vendor relationship management, cost negotiation, attention to detail, collaboration, problem-solving, and a process improvement mindset.
  • This is an in-office role based at our Mt. Hope, OH headquarters, with occasional flexibility considered.
